Open-Concept Whole Home & Accessible Bathroom Remodel in Woodland, WA
Project Overview
The homeowners in Woodland, WA wished to revitalize their entire residence, moving away from closed-off, shadowy rooms toward a modern, open-concept floor plan. Beyond maximizing light and spatial flow throughout the kitchen and living areas, creating a secure, accessible, and comfortable bathroom environment adapted for mobility needs was a primary objective.
However, executing a major overhaul in this location presented extreme logistical hurdles. Tucked behind mountain access routes, winter conditions brought snow, ice, and slick driving conditions that made material delivery and site access an exceptional challenge.
Evolve Design & Build delivered a comprehensive design-build renovation through meticulous winter logistics and precision construction. By opening up key interior layouts, modernizing finishes, overcoming harsh weather barriers, and engineering an ADA-compliant bathroom, we transformed the property into a bright, safe, and timeless living space.

Remodeling Challenges
Executing a full-home renovation with accessibility requirements in a remote Pacific Northwest location presented three distinct obstacles:
- Severe Winter Weather & Mountainous Access: Located across a mountain pass, heavy winter snow and ice caused vehicles to slide on steep access roads, requiring complex site logistics, heavy-duty transport coordination, and strict safety measures to keep the project timeline on track.
- Compartmentalized & Dim Interiors: Enclosed walls obstructed natural light, making the kitchen and living areas feel small and isolated.
- Bathroom Accessibility Barriers: Standard shower curbs, narrow doorways, and slippery flooring posed serious safety risks for individuals with limited mobility.
Remodeling Results and Home Improvements
Evolve Design & Build applied strategic structural engineering, winter project management, and universal design principles to meet the family's lifestyle and accessibility goals.
Winter Logistics & Mountain Site Management

Winter Logistics & Mountain Site Management
- Removing Interior Barriers: Strategic wall modifications created a seamless flow between the kitchen, dining, and living areas.
- Bright Color & Lighting Plan: Integrated bright interior wall tones paired with recessed LED fixtures to illuminate previously dim corners.

Planning a major home renovation in Southwest Washington? Here are clear answers to common questions about managing remote mountain remodels, creating open floor plans, installing ADA-accessible bathrooms, and selecting trusted contractors in the Woodland area
01
How do contractors handle home remodeling logistics in remote or winter conditions in Washington?
Experienced design-build contractors utilize staged material delivery schedules, specialized all-weather transport, and precise site management to prevent winter delays caused by snow, ice, or difficult mountain access roads.
